Push forward with deliberate pressure and the tines open to a 4B swell past 1.5mm, close to a 4x spread, and they return with a gentle controlled snap.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe nib is 1930s to 1940s production. Waterman stamped Ideal on its nibs for half a century, and the #5 sat in the middle of that range, large enough for a full swell and the size modern conversions favor.
