📒 History/Provenance
The flagship of L.E. Waterman Company from 1929 to 1936, the Patrician was the shining beacon in the pen world during the Great Depression, "crafted like a fine car- colored like a fine jewel." There were 5 original colors at launch: Emerald, Onyx, Nacre, Turquoise, and Jet. Later on there were additional variations with full celluloid and full ebonite, but the key features remained the same with distinctly huge #8 nibs and specialized feeds for superb writing, dubbed "The World's Finest Pen for Men," and the Lady Patricia "The World's Finest Pen for Women" haha. These were considered the Rolls-Royce of pens of this era, and launched with a million dollar ad campaign.
Extremely rare Emerald colorway with extremely strong deep vibrant green celluloid nitrate, this is the 5th Emerald Patrician I've held and it has the closest color to NOS possible as many will look fine but have lost most of their darker green hues and become more of a light mint color.

🧪 QA & Recommendation
Incredible flexible stub Patrician nib that is tuned for incredibly smooth flex and flow.
Tested on Rhodia 80 gsm, inked with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.

🔧 Restoration Commentary
Imprints are strong with natural wear to edges.
Black ebonite rejuvenated and hand polished, "softness" of ebonite restored.
Cap has darkened celluloid band due to ink, but celluloid has no signs of crystallization or degradation.
Nib heat set and tuned for smoothness.
Coated with carnauba wax to shield from moisture, UV, and celluloid crystallization.
Fitted with inert silicone ink sacs to prevent off-gassing that would otherwise darken the mint celluloid nitrate barrels.

Appendix for Listing Details

Sweating the details is fundamental to understanding, appreciating, and knowing the peice of history you have in your hands.

All pens are filled and tested, not just dipped in ink, which does not reflect writing characteristics whatsoever.

Line Variation Standard

Different restorers have different standards for line sizing and especially for vintage pens, the printed tipping size will not always be accurate due to repairs/grinds/etc. Please use this as a frame of reference for consistency.

Flexibility Standard

Nib flexibility is such a controversial topic, but there needs to be some level of consistency so please take this table as a frame of reference for my restorations and as someone who is writing in a calligraphic/spencerian style of cursive script. Without objective measurements, flexibility terms such as wet noodle are useless as someone with stronger forearms and grip strength will make even manifold nibs into a wet noodle.
