Wahl Eversharp Signature Gold Seal, Lazulitic Blue GPT, #5 Flexible nib
Wahl Eversharp Signature Gold Seal, Lazulitic Blue GPT, #5 Flexible nib
📒 History/Provenance
- An incredibly beautiful Lazulitic Blue Gold Seal Wahl Signature pen in full size with an early production 1927-1928 ball clip. In the exceptionally popular and beautiful lazulitic blue colorway, which found popularity across many of the the top pen manufacturers with slight variations especially with the addition of white celluloid, but Wahl kept their blue celluloid a pure mix of light and dark blues, similar to Mabie Todd Swan's xylonite.
🧪 QA & Recommendation
- A holy grail of a size 5 noodle nib with dreamy hairlines and extremely well control snapback and ink flow control. Performance of a Waterman 7 Pink nib for half the price and in an incredible celluloid nitrate colorway.
- Super hairline nibs like these that can also flex very wide tend to favor more saturated inks that have their inkflow enhanced with some super small amounts of lubricants such as the super juicy Parker Quink Washable Blue, or a ink flow enhancer (my own version).
🔧 Restoration Commentary (repairs done, feed/nib adjusted, polishing notes)
- Celluloid Nitrate has been lightly hand-polished to get rid of microscratches but deeper scratches are not polished down to preserve as much of the material as possible.
- Ebonite grip section rejuvenated and lightly polished, "softness" of ebonite restored.
- Fitted with a latex sac, nib heat set and tune

Appendix for Listing Details
Sweating the details is fundamental to understanding, appreciating, and knowing the peice of history you have in your hands.
All pens are filled and tested, not just dipped in ink, which does not reflect writing characteristics whatsoever.
Line Variation Standard
Different restorers have different standards for line sizing and especially for vintage pens, the printed tipping size will not always be accurate due to repairs/grinds/etc. Please use this as a frame of reference for consistency.
Flexibility Standard
Nib flexibility is such a controversial topic, but there needs to be some level of consistency so please take this table as a frame of reference for my restorations and as someone who is writing in a calligraphic/spencerian style of cursive script. Without objective measurements, flexibility terms such as wet noodle are useless as someone with stronger forearms and grip strength will make even manifold nibs into a wet noodle.
