Waterman's 0752, BHR with Gold-Filled Overlay, GPT, Needlepoint #2 14k Flex
The Waterman 0752 is the gold-filled overlay version of the standard 52 lever-filler. The model number in Waterman's Standard Numbering System: "07" for the gold-filled solid or filigree barrel band, "5" for the lever fill, "2" for the #2 nib. Black hard rubber under a gold-filled overlay, full-size proportions, same body family as the plain 52 with the dressed-up barrel band. This example carries the floral filigree barrel band specific to the 0752, with the rear-side personalization "A.B.M." imprinted clean into the band. The royal-plate overlay traces to Spain-side Waterman production, which used a thicker gold layer than the standard French and US plate. The clip ball reads as a period replacement, and the ebonite chasing has worn down evenly and smoothly under decades of pocket use. The Needlepoint nib carries the listing. Needlepoint flex is the flagship Waterman flex configuration: an extra-fine baseline that opens dramatically under pressure. This nib measures 0.20mm hairlines (writing more like 0.15mm in practice) opening to 1.47mm at 260g Semi Brush Flex for a 7.35× line variation in the EEF to 3B range. Crisp hairlines with clean edges, sharp tines, exceptional snapback, and a feed that keeps up with the flex curve. This is the configuration that has driven the vintage Waterman flex market for forty years, the nib character Spencerian and Copperplate practitioners pay a premium to find. Comparable Needlepoint-tuned 0752 listings have asked over $1,000 for slightly finer baselines; this one prices conservatively against that comp. Grade D+ overall, with the deduction concentrated in trim wear: the clip ball appears replaced, and the gold-filled overlay chasing has worn smooth in spots. The rear finial imprint is worn but legible. Fitted with a latex sac, but can swap to a silicone sac if you want to use more diverse and troublesome inks (remember silicone sacs will creep ink so keep pen upright in storage). Ebonite rejuvenated and hand-polished. Gold-filled overlay carefully cleaned without disturbing the engraving. Fresh latex sac. Nib heat-set and tuned for flex and smoothness. Tested on Rhodia 90gsm ivory with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.

Appendix for Listing Details
Sweating the details is fundamental to understanding, appreciating, and knowing the peice of history you have in your hands.
All pens are filled and tested, not just dipped in ink, which does not reflect writing characteristics whatsoever.
Line Variation Standard
Different restorers have different standards for line sizing and especially for vintage pens, the printed tipping size will not always be accurate due to repairs/grinds/etc. Please use this as a frame of reference for consistency.
Flexibility Standard
Nib flexibility is such a controversial topic, but there needs to be some level of consistency so please take this table as a frame of reference for my restorations and as someone who is writing in a calligraphic/spencerian style of cursive script. Without objective measurements, flexibility terms such as wet noodle are useless as someone with stronger forearms and grip strength will make even manifold nibs into a wet noodle.
