A Waterman's #5 stub in 14ct gold from English production, stamped "Waterman's 14ct England 5." It is a stub and flexes, so it shows off stroke contrast before any pressure and opens well past it under the hand.
At rest the stub puts a broad 0.70mm downstroke against a crisp 0.25mm cross stroke, the contrast a stub builds in. Add 370g of pressure, a nice Flex on my scale, and the tines open to 1.50mm for a 6.0x range. The sides of the stub are sharp and the line runs juicy and wet. On a dry feed or a cartridge-converter pen it can outrun its ink and railroad if you flex fast, so it suits a generous filler and a controlled hand.
The tines were trued and the tip polished, then set to the feed under heat. Housed in Nikko black ebonite on a JOWO #6 ebonite feed. Graded A−, light honest wear, the imprint clean.
Tested on Sanzen TR 52gsm cream with Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black.

Appendix for Listing Details
Sweating the details is fundamental to understanding, appreciating, and knowing the peice of history you have in your hands.
All pens are filled and tested, not just dipped in ink, which does not reflect writing characteristics whatsoever.
Line Variation Standard
Different restorers have different standards for line sizing and especially for vintage pens, the printed tipping size will not always be accurate due to repairs/grinds/etc. Please use this as a frame of reference for consistency.
Flexibility Standard
Nib flexibility is such a controversial topic, but there needs to be some level of consistency so please take this table as a frame of reference for my restorations and as someone who is writing in a calligraphic/spencerian style of cursive script. Without objective measurements, flexibility terms such as wet noodle are useless as someone with stronger forearms and grip strength will make even manifold nibs into a wet noodle.
